Position Summary: 

To perform this job satisfactorily, an individual must be able to perform essential job duties with minimal supervision.  Must be able to perform complex and precision welding techniques.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties and responsibilities are essential. Other duties may be assigned and/or applied:

• Producing weldments using carbon steel, 304 and 316 stainless steel, aluminum, and exotic metals
• Must be able to read blueprints and schematic drawings and provide design input concerning weld distortion, etc.
• Interpret mechanical shop drawings with high level of competency
• Produce weldments that meet the size and length requirements of each weld specified within the given tolerance allowed
• Must be able to TIG (Heliarc) and MIG weld with thorough knowledge of flux-core and shielded wire welding, weld carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum and exotic metals
• Must be able to identify stainless grades, types of copper, etc.
• Must be able to structural weld and pipe weld in flat, vertical and overhead positions
• Repair improper welds
• Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy
• Follow company operating procedures and safety rules
• Must be available to travel for field work on occasion

• Use of measuring tools (tape measure, squares, clamps, fillet gage, angle finder, etc.)
• Use of hand tools, power tools, hoist jacks, dollies, rollers
• Proper selection and operation of cables, ropes, chains, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves according to weight and size of load to be moved
• Use of AWS chart/steel tables

Education/Experience:  

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six (6) years prior and/or related experience.

Language Ability: 

• Must be able to speak, read and understand English.
• Communicate and understand job instructions, both verbally and written.

Math Ability: 

• Basic mathematical computation ability (fractions, percentages, ratios, etc.)

Reasoning Ability: 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in a variety of situations.

Computer Skills:

This job does not require computer skills.

Certificates and Licenses:

• Welder’s certificate
• • TIG (Heliarc)
  • MIG
• Safety Council, preferred but not required
• Forklift certification
• TWIC card, preferred but not required

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
