Data Analyst

The Data Analyst will identify and formally document business requirements for new structures in the data warehouse to support healthcare data analytics and reporting initiatives. This position requires a full understanding of healthcare data (e.g. membership, claims, clinical and provider data). The Data Analyst will demonstrate advanced analytic and problem solving skills and be recognized as a thought leader by peers and throughout the organization. Ultimately, this position will be responsible for establishing solid data requirements to integrate data from all the markets into the National Data Warehouse.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Fully identify data sources required to flow into the data warehouse.

Conduct data profiling of data sources.

Work with the project team (both technical and business) to ensure requirements are accurate, clear and understood by those participating in the project.

Meet with business and technical teams to discuss functional design concepts and alternatives necessary to meet requirements.

Map source system data to data warehouse target tables by completely source to target documents which includes not only mapping data element and data types but also identifying rules, calculations, filters to integrate data appropriately.

Recognize problems and is able to make recommendations/decisions on the best course of action to remediate. Resourceful at coming up with solutions using existing or available resources based on knowledge of the organization and level of execution effort.

• Meet with business and technical teams to discuss functional design concepts and alternatives necessary to meet requirements.
• Help define acceptance test objectives, test cases and assist in system and integration testing.
• Holds self accountable for clear understanding of mission and goals for role and department. Achieves goals and helps to create an environment that fosters team commitment and employee engagement.

• Duties are performed semi-independently with general management oversight. Decisions are made within established departmental guidelines, Errors in judgment or work performance could result in insufficient operation for the organization.

Specific Job Skills and Experience:

• 3+ years of Data Analyst experience.
• 2+ years working knowledge in a Data Warehouse/BI environment, ETL tool skills a strong plus.
• 2+ years working knowledge of healthcare medical group business areas (clinical, operations, care management).
• Strong SQL skills and full understanding of querying relational databases.
• Experience with data quality and profiling tools.
• Experience documenting detailed requirements, design documents, and workflows in support of BI or sophisticated reporting capabilities.
• Ability to extract and manipulate data from multiple data sources using PLSQL.
• Experience with contemporary Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies such as Agile.
• Ability to work with data warehouse and BI developers in formulating recommendations and tactics based on data analyses.
