Travel Medical Laboratory Scientist #26-31363 $1,871/week Salt Lake City, UT MLT- Medical Technologist // Lab $1,610 weekly stipends $7.25/hour $261 weekly base pay Onsite Contract Starts 10/12/2026 13 weeks Job Description Day Shift 12 hours/day 3 days/week Travel Medical Laboratory Scientist Facility Information Facility: St. Mark's Hospital Location: Salt Lake City, UT Shift Type: Day Shift Shift Time: Start Time: 07:00 AM End Time: 07:00 PM Unit: ER Lab / Taylorsville FSED Position: Medical Lab Scientist / Med Tech – Point of Care Testing Assignment Length: 13 weeks Extension Option: 26 weeks available if interested Start Date: ASAP Position Overview The Medical Laboratory Scientist will perform Point of Care Testing (POCT) and laboratory testing in support of the Freestanding Emergency Department (FSED). The role also requires the ability to perform clerical duties as assigned by Nursing and the Lab Director to support FSED operations. Important: Full licensure is required. Associate-level candidates without the required full license will not be considered. Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off Day Shift: 1 MLS Night Shift: 1 MLS Weekends: Every other weekend Call: No on-call requirement Additional hours may be available during the traveler's 7 days off, if desired Laboratory Equipment Sysmex 1000 i-Stat Veritor Flu Candidate Requirements Must Have Full MLS/MT licensure or equivalent ASCP certification as MLS, CLS, or MT Minimum 2 years of experience working in a hospital laboratory environment as an MLT or MLS Ability to perform Point of Care Testing Professional communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently in an FSED environment Preferred EPIC experience Experience with the laboratory analyzers listed above Typical Responsibilities & Procedures Perform daily maintenance, quality control (QC), and calibrations on laboratory analyzers Perform patient testing, including waived and non-waived testing Process laboratory specimens Order laboratory tests Prepare send-out specimens for transport Stock laboratory supplies Perform routine cleaning of laboratory work surfaces Perform clerical duties as assigned in support of FSED operations Follow laboratory safety and quality standards Ideal Candidate Able to work independently for the majority of the shift Communicates professionally with both laboratory and non-laboratory personnel Works effectively with Emergency Department clinical staff Dependable, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced FSED environment Required Certification ASCP certification as: MLS – Medical Laboratory Scientist CLS – Clinical Laboratory Scientist MT – Medical Technologist Equivalent full licensure/certification may be considered as applicable Floating N/A Dress Code Scrubs: Pewter preferred; exact color is not as important for travelers Lab Coat: Provided Unit Guidelines & Policies Must adhere to standard laboratory safety protocols and requirements established by CLIA and CAP . Must follow applicable laboratory policies, procedures, and safety standards.
