Health Science Instructor

Location: Canton High School

The Health Science Instructor will provide instruction of the standards associated with the Michigan Department of Education Office of Career and Technical Education's CIP 51.0000.

Qualifications:

• Must possess a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with the Health Sciences/Allied Health/Health Sciences, General, CIP 51.0000 OR Be eligible for an Annual Occupational Authorization (AOA): Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4,000 hours of paid recent (within the past six years) and relevant work experience in health care and current appropriate industry licensure.
• Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, or any other certified/registered health care provider, preferred.
• American Red Cross Certification, preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Teaches the state approved standards for CIP Code 51.0000.
• Updates the CIP Self-review each year.
• Updates/revises curriculum each year.
• Other duties as assigned by CTE Administrator.

Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Certificated Personnel.

Beginning Date: August 25, 2026. New hires will be required to attend a three-day orientation August 19-21, 2026.

Salary: PCEA Salary Schedule

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit. Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs such as boxes of books. The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.
