Health Information Management ClerkUnder the supervision of the Site Manager, the Health Information Management Clerk performs all necessary processes required by the HIM Department and is responsible for the timely accurate processing of patient health information records and ensuring the release of such information in accordance with applicable laws.Duties performed include:Assembling and processing patient health information records according to NHFHS guidelines/protocols.Ensuring all releases of information are in compliance with the request, authorization, company policy, HIPAA, and HITECH regulations, as well as other applicable state and Federal laws.Answering telephone and responding appropriately to medical staff or other authorized parties.Identifying medical reports.Retrieving health information documents for patients/nurses/physicians.Ensuring medical records are requested and released appropriately.Providing assistance to other medical records personnel and outlying departments.Noting electronic documentation deficiencies and routing to the appropriate provider.Identifying health information reports and ensuring their timely insertion into electronic health records according to EHR/Athena processes.Completing required health information tasks (buckets) in the electronic medical record system.Following up with appropriate staff for patients who are to be added to the daily appointments schedule.Exhibiting courteous, professional, helpful attitude.Maintaining neat, orderly and systematic work area.Performing other duties which may be assigned by the Mallard Site Manager, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), CEO and Nursing & Clinical Support Services Director (NCSSD).Qualifications:Education: Required: Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent. Preferred: Associates Degree in Health Information Management, knowledge of medical terminology preferred, or certification in a medical field.Experience: Required: Working with Electronic Health Record System.
