The Urban Land Institute is a nonprofit research and education organization with 48,000 members across every discipline of land use and real estate. ULI Boston is one of our most active district councils, serving developers, planners, architects, public officials and investors across Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Connecticut.

Our events calendar is how we deliver value to members. From committee programming and speaker series to roundtables, tours and member gatherings, we run a high volume of events throughout the year. Each one needs to feel relevant, well-run and worth showing up for. That is where this role comes in.

The Role

We are looking for an Events and Programs Coordinator who is as comfortable in a planning spreadsheet as they are in a room full of senior real estate professionals. You will own the logistics and coordination of ULI Boston's full events calendar, working directly with committee chairs, member leaders and the Executive Director to keep programming running smoothly and members genuinely engaged.

This is not a back-office role. You will be the face of ULI Boston's events operation: the person committee chairs call when they need something, the one who knows what is happening across every member group, and the one who keeps things moving without needing to be chased.

What you will do

Events Planning and Delivery

• Plan and execute ULI Boston's committee-driven events calendar: speaker series, panel discussions, tours, roundtables and member gatherings.
• Own all logistics end to end: venue sourcing, catering, invitations, marketing, registration and on-site coordination.
• Work with committee chairs and member leaders to develop programming that genuinely serves members, and be able to distinguish that from content that serves a sponsor or speaker rather than the room.

Member and Committee Relationships

• Build and maintain real working relationships with committee chairs, member leaders and key volunteers. Not a check-in ten minutes before a meeting. Actual relationships, built over time, that make you the person they trust to get things done.
• Manage multiple member cohorts simultaneously across ULI Boston's local product councils, handling scheduling, speaker coordination and communications for each group's programming cycle.
• Spot when two member groups are interested in the same topic and bring them together rather than running parallel events.
• Be the connecting thread across member groups: the person who knows what is happening, keeps commitments on track, and follows through.

Member Communications

• Manage all event-related communications: invitations, reminders, follow-ups and member correspondence.
• Support the Director of Programs and Events and Executive Director on member outreach and engagement.
• Maintain strong relationships with venues, vendors and partners across the Boston market.

What we are looking for

• Events coordination or program administration experience. You have owned events from planning through execution and are comfortable running the process without being managed through every step.
• Strong interpersonal skills and genuine confidence with people. You will regularly be in conversation with senior professionals who have high expectations. You do not need to be an expert in real estate or urban development, but you do need to be able to hold your own in those conversations, steer them when needed, and leave people feeling well looked after.
• Relationship-building instincts. You understand that getting things done through volunteers and committee chairs who do not report to you requires a different approach than managing a to-do list. You think proactively about how to build trust with the people you rely on.
• Strong organizational skills. You are managing multiple events at different stages simultaneously and nothing gets dropped.
• Vendor management experience. You have worked with caterers, venues and AV teams and know how to get good outcomes without overspending.
• Genuine curiosity about the built environment. You do not need a background in real estate or urban planning, but an interest in cities, development and the issues ULI members work on every day will help you do this job better.
• Based in or close to Boston. The role is in-office Tuesday through Thursday, with some evening and occasional weekend events throughout the year.

What success looks like

By the end of year one, you are running events independently, the committee chairs know your name and trust you to follow through, you are proactively flagging programming ideas, and you are the person the team relies on to know what is happening across all member groups. You got there not just by being organized, but by taking the time to actually get to know the people you work with.

Working at ULI Boston

A team of four where you will know everyone and feel the impact of your work directly. In-office Tuesday through Thursday at our downtown Boston co-working space, remote Monday and Friday. Evening and occasional weekend programming is part of the role and flexibility is built into the culture. Direct access to leadership and a role where your contribution is visible.

Compensation and benefits

The salary range for this position is $65,822 to $71,581 annually, including base salary and performance-based incentive eligibility. Compensation is determined by experience, education, skills and other job-related factors. ULI offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental and life insurance, generous vacation leave and a retirement plan with employer match.
