Data Privacy Associate

Job Overview A law firm seeks a Data Privacy Associate to support its expanding data privacy and security practice, with a preference for candidates based in Charlotte or Raleigh, North Carolina. This role focuses on advising clients on privacy, cybersecurity, AI, and data governance matters in a transactional and regulatory environment. Duties Draft, review, and negotiate data privacy and security provisions in commercial agreements. Work on vendor, SaaS, licensing, and other technology‑related contracts. Advise on privacy compliance and regulatory requirements. Support the development of privacy programs and product‑related initiatives. Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys on transactional privacy matters. Monitor developments in data privacy laws and regulations. Assist with data breach response matters as needed. Requirements 2 to 4 years of relevant legal experience. Interest or experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, or technology transactions. Experience with commercial contracts and privacy compliance issues. Ability to manage multiple matters in a collaborative environment. Willingness to participate in business development activities. Education Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Certifications Licensed or eligible for licensure in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, or Washington, DC. CIPP certification preferred. Skills Strong drafting and negotiation abilities. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
