Research Specialist I

Company: Elixirgen Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotech company in Baltimore, MD focused on developing life-changing therapies for rare and aging-associated diseases. Job Title: Research Specialist – Preclinical Studies Classification: Exempt Reports to: Team Leader or Executive Staff Essential Functions Performing assays and experiments including but not limited to the following – molecular biology (molecular cloning, PCR, qRT-PCR, Western blot, ELISA, Genome editing), histology (tissue sectioning, cryo-sectioning, immunohistochemistry), cell culture Maintain adequate supplies and materials Comply with safety policies Prepare reports Perform general clerical duties Maintain lab and office space, keeping it clean and organized Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities Work Environment This position works in a laboratory that contains potent, volatile, carcinogenic, and poisonous chemicals. Employees are required to wear appropriate protective clothing and equipment when handling these materials. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. General days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9am – 5pm. Some evening and weekend work may be required. Travel No travel is expected for this position. Required Education and Experience At least a Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, engineering, or related scientific field.
