Middle school is a time when young people are discovering who they are, building confidence, and preparing for the future. As a Youth Development Professional , you'll help guide students through this important stage by creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment where they can connect, learn, and thrive.

This role is about more than supervising an after-school program—it's about building relationships, encouraging leadership, supporting academic success, and helping teens develop the skills they'll carry into high school and beyond.

• Lead engaging programs focused on leadership, academics, recreation, STEM, arts, wellness, and career exploration. 
• Build meaningful relationships with middle school youth while serving as a trusted mentor and positive role model. 
• Foster a welcoming environment where every member feels respected, included, and empowered. 
• Encourage positive behavior through relationship-building, coaching, and restorative practices. 
• Supervise youth during activities while maintaining a safe and structured environment. 
• Plan and facilitate activities that keep teens engaged, challenged, and excited to participate. 
• Track attendance and complete required program documentation. 
• Collaborate with coworkers, school staff, families, and community partners to support youth success. 
• Help maintain organized, clean, and safe program spaces. 
• Participate in trainings, team meetings, and ongoing professional development. 
• Contribute new ideas and creative programming that connects with today's teens.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

• Is 18 years of age or older . 
• Has a High School Diploma or GED . 
• Has at least one year of experience working with youth aged 10 years of age and up.
• Has 48+ College Units, Para-educator certificate or willingness to obtain para-educator certificate
• Enjoys mentoring and connecting with middle school students. 
• Can build positive relationships while maintaining appropriate structure and accountability. 
• Communicates confidently and professionally with youth, families, coworkers, volunteers, and school partners. 
• Can motivate and engage teens with creativity, empathy, and enthusiasm. 
• Is organized, dependable, and able to adapt in a fast-paced environment. 
• Has basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, email, and web-based systems. 
• Can remain active throughout the workday. 
• Is willing to complete all required Boys & Girls Club and school district trainings, screenings, and clearances. 

• Enjoy mentoring and inspiring young people. 
• Know how to make learning engaging and relevant. 
• Believe every teen deserves a trusted adult who believes in them. 
• Are confident, approachable, and enjoy building meaningful relationships. 
• Want to help youth develop leadership skills, confidence, and a vision for their future.
