Position Summary
IRIS Rheumatology & Immunology is seeking a professional, compassionate, and highly organized Front Desk Medical Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our patients. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service while ensuring efficient front office operations, patient scheduling, insurance verification, and accurate patient registration. Medical receptionists are responsible for greeting patients, scheduling appointments, answering phones, managing patient records, and maintaining a positive patient experience.
Essential Responsibilities
- Greet and check in patients in a courteous and professional manner.
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
- Answer incoming calls and respond to patient inquiries.
- Verify insurance eligibility and obtain authorizations as needed.
- Collect co-pays, balances, and process patient payments.
- Register new patients and update demographics and insurance information.
- Scan and upload documents into the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
- Coordinate patient flow and communicate with providers and clinical staff.
- Manage incoming faxes, referrals, and correspondence.
- Ensure front desk and waiting areas remain organized and welcoming.
- Assist with appointment reminders and follow-up calls.
- Support administrative projects and other duties assigned by management. (Indeed)
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 1 year of medical front desk or healthcare customer service experience preferred.
- Experience with EMR systems .
- Knowledge of insurance verification and patient registration processes.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced medical environment.
- Professional appearance and positive attitude.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
