Aircraft Mechanic

The Aircraft Mechanic performs simple to complex and advanced structural modifications, alterations, testing, troubleshooting, cyclical and unscheduled maintenance for aircraft, assemblies, components, and equipment. The work includes repairs, replacement, prototyping, and rebuilds of aircraft structures, such as wings, fuselage, blades, surfaces, composites, landing gear, and functional components. Candidates are customarily required to maintain all occupational areas in FOD free and aviation standard cleanliness conditions. Duties will primarily include precision locating, assembling, fitting, and installation of modified structural enhancements, repairs, or additions. The craft requires detailed coordination in dimensioning for exactness and precision. Additionally, the candidate will support cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, checking brakes, jacking & towing of aircraft, and servicing aircraft components. The occupation requires entries in maintenance records describing work performed, verifying satisfactory performance, and returning aircraft, parts, and aircraft documentation to a flightworthy status. The candidate will make determination of work completeness and system operating conformance by referring to inspection lists, technical orders, service bulletins, blueprints, manufacturing outline sheets, and engineering reports. Other related airworthiness compliance categories are established through USG doctrinal guidance, Federal Aviation Licensing, and engineering specifications. Candidates within this title regularly specialize in their respective field of experience for repairs, maintenance, modification, precision instruments, functional spare parts, and aircraft assemblies.

The duties of this title will require expert level craftsmanship and artisan skills within the scope of work. The candidate will possess advanced level expertise in fundamentals and principles in the larger field. The duties will frequently require application of intricate knowledge, expertise, and experience in multiple specializations. The candidate will serve as a key mentor and team development professional for groups and teams of employees of lessor experience. The candidate will regularly participate in planning and development along with problem solving.

Demonstrated knowledge & experience in structural principles and characteristics of simple to complex aircraft structural modification, repair, assembly, and maintenance; including all specifications for declaration of flight worthy and returning to service. Aircraft and system knowledge / expertise in one or more fields of specialization. Competent in the necessary testing equipment and tools related to areas of specialization. Proficient in operational checks, testing methodology, and utilization of aircraft technical guidance. Demonstrated knowledge for determination of repairable, serviceable, rejectable, condemnable parts and assemblies. Proficient in procedures & methods concerning each of the categories.

Pay Information: $36.46 - $36.46
