We are looking for a performance-driven Timepiece Merchandise Assistant & Sales Assistant to the Head of Watches to join our New York team and contribute to the growth of our timepiece business and overall client experience.

Role Overview 

As a Sales Assistant to the Head of Watches at Material Good, your primary role will be to support our Head of Watches in all aspects of their day-to-day workflow. This includes merchandise assistance for the watch department, such as entering purchase orders, tracking deliveries by brand, and managing brand allocations. Secondarily, you can cultivate your own watch clientele and to drive sales across our portfolio of modern and vintage timepieces. You’ll also have the opportunity to support sales in new jewelry and bespoke projects, offering clients a refined, personalized experience. You’re someone who understands the nuance of the collector mindset, is well-versed in the high-end watch space, and thrives in a high-accountability, high-reward environment.

Key Responsibilities

· Process sales orders accurately and in a timely manner

· Maintain and update customer records and sales databases (e.g., CRM systems)

· Liaise with logistics, finance, and other internal departments to ensure smooth order and shipping fulfillment

· Assist with the preparation of sales proposals, quotes, and contracts

· Respond to customer inquiries and provide after-sales support for existing clients

· Coordinate with the marketing team on promotional materials and campaign execution

· Support with meeting schedules, and general admin

Merchandise Assistance

· Enter and maintain purchase orders (POs) with brand partners, ensuring accuracy of references, pricing, and quantities

· Track incoming deliveries by brand, monitoring shipment status and following up on outstanding or delayed orders

· Manage and record brand allocations, keeping allocation lists current and coordinating with the Head of Watches on client placement

Sales Generation

· Consistently meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual individual sales goals with a primary focus on collectible timepieces (modern and vintage)

· Drive both transactional and relationship-based sales, converting walk-ins, referrals, and appointments into repeat clients

· Proactively grow your pipeline through consistent client outreach, networking, and leveraging collector communities and events

· Educate your personal client book on Material Good’s offerings—including timepieces, jewelry, and bespoke projects—and identify cross-category opportunities to deepen relationships

Client Development & CRM Management

· Develop and manage a robust portfolio of collectors and high-intent prospects, maintaining consistent follow-up and nurturing long-term loyalty

· Log detailed records in the CRM system including purchase history, preferences, and service needs

· Host private appointments both in-store and off-site, offering concierge-level service throughout the buying process

· Assist with trade-ins and sourcing requests, working closely with our watch team to deliver tailored solutions.

Requirements

· Prior experience in the luxury watch industry, whether in retail, sales, or merchandising

· Strong knowledge of the watch market, including independent brands and the collector landscape

· Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple brands, orders, and timelines at once

· Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word

· Able to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with clients and brand partners

· Discretion and professionalism in handling high-value inventory and confidential client information

Additional duties will be assigned as store and business needs dictate.
