PATIENT SERVICE ASSOCIATE

About the Unit: The Outpatient Rapid Observation Center (OROC) – Patient Service Associate at Sinai Hospital is a newly constructed 19‑bed closed observation unit with a focus on the following diagnoses: Chest pain, syncope, COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, TIA, UTI, AKI, dizziness & peripheral vertigo, ESRD and missed dialysis, cellulitis and intractable nausea and vomiting. Plan of care focuses on discharging patients safely with protocolized care pathways within 24 hours. Increased nurse autonomy in facilitating care plans with the support of charge nurses and through‑put nurses. Designated provider team (MDs/APPs) available with care management support. Job Summary: Perform a variety of secretarial support functions to assist the physician and other clinical staff in the emergency department. Perform clerical responsibilities to support department staff. Exhibit a positive attitude and a willingness to assist all patients, families, and coworkers. Maintain and process medical records for all department visits. Coordinate supplies and repairs of equipment across departments. Demonstrate teamwork through collaboration and cooperation within the department and other departments. Requirements: Entry‑level knowledge; basic employment skills. Degree or high school diploma not required. Minimum of 1 year of experience required; 3+ years preferred. Competency with basic computer skills and programs. Familiarity with medical terminology.
