Financial Coordinator

Description:


The Financial Coordinator provides professional-level fiscal, analytical, and support for assigned areas by overseeing business operations, including submitting transactional and budgetary data, and advising stakeholders on fiscal decisions. The role ensures compliance, financial stewardship, and continuous improvement of business processes in support of assigned areas.


Duties:

• Maintains and reconciles financial accounts, monitors revenue and expenditures for assigned areas.
• Processes financial and payroll transactions and personnel expenditures on departmental operating accounts.
• Prepares journal vouchers needed to effect changes in accounts. May prepare billing, financial reports, and/or invoices for various foundations and institutions.
• Reconciles financial accounts for a department or office to the monthly statements provided by the University.
• Prepares monthly and quarterly financial reports for department management.
• May train others regarding preparation of financial documents.
• Researches and corrects reconciliation discrepancies with reallocations and journal vouchers and performs related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

1. Associate's degree
2. Minimum three years of job-related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
2. Previous work-related experience in a higher education institution.
3. Experience with auditing or financial analysis.

• Ability to organize, prioritize, and track multiple requests in a structured, deadline-driven environment.
• Demonstrated follow-through and accountability in monitoring transactions and ensuring completion of assigned tasks.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and composure while serving as a first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to maintain organized electronic and shared records to support compliance and operational transparency.
