Junior IT Support Specialist / Help Desk Tech

Requirements Must have:

• We require prior hands‑on IT experience gained through a support role, internship, MSP, school program, homelab, or a similar environment.
• We are looking for working knowledge of Windows and/or macOS.
• We expect familiarity with Microsoft 365, including user support and some light administrative exposure.
• We need strong written and verbal communication skills.
• We want someone who can work independently after onboarding while knowing when to ask for assistance.
• We value comfort with structured procedures and the ability to help refine them when gaps are identified.
• A valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel locally to client sites are required.
• We require clear, professional written communication in tickets and emails.
• We expect professional grammar, spelling, capitalization, and tone.
• We need the ability to avoid excessive shorthand or unclear notes.
• Because our tickets and notes may be client-visible, they must be written in a polished, professional manner.
• We expect a professional demeanor in written, verbal, and in-person interactions.
• We need respectful, calm communication even under pressure.
• Candidates must represent our company appropriately onsite and remotely.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least 1 year of IT support experience is required.

Responsibilities We provide Tier 1 and light Tier 2 support for end users.

• We triage, document, and resolve incoming support tickets.
• We troubleshoot common issues such as password resets, MFA problems, email and Microsoft 365 support, Windows and macOS workstation issues, printers, VPN, and basic network connectivity.
• We communicate clearly with users, set expectations, and follow issues through to resolution.
• We assist with user onboarding and offboarding, including accounts, access, licenses, and devices.
• We perform basic Microsoft 365 administration under guidance.
• We help with patching, updates, and routine maintenance.
• We support VoIP and PBX changes such as adds, moves, and changes.
• We follow documented SOPs and help improve them where needed.
• We track and manage IT assets such as laptops, phones, and peripherals.
• We maintain accurate records in asset management systems.
• We keep documentation current in IT Glue or internal systems.
• We help close gaps between assumed and actual system knowledge.
• We identify repetitive or inefficient tasks.
• We assist in building and maintaining SOPs, checklists, and AI-assisted workflows.
• We adopt smarter and more efficient ways of working.
• We ask questions, research issues, and attempt reasonable troubleshooting before escalating.
• We grow over time in systems administration, networking fundamentals, and security best practices.
• We take ownership of assigned responsibilities.

Company We are a Managed Services Provider offering a full-time, on‑site Junior IT Support Specialist / Help Desk Technician role based in our Lenexa, KS office, with local travel across the Kansas City metro area and mileage reimbursement for approved travel. This is an early-career opportunity for someone with hands‑on IT experience who wants to build skills in help desk support, Microsoft 365, workstation troubleshooting, basic systems administration, documentation, client service, process improvement, and AI‑assisted workflows. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and the role is hourly with overtime pay for approved hours worked.
