DUTIES

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustment and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, differentials, etc. Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment using test instruments and handheld computers. Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation. Use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives when identifying problems. Independently manage parts inventory and perform periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle with safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections. Provide effective communication to clients and customers, resolving problems and meeting expectations. Prioritize concurrent tasks and manage time allocations effectively. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks. Document work on Repair Orders (RO) using company‑issued iOS devices and the TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documentation. Manage own daily schedule with a high degree of independence. Maintain productivity and work within or close to standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as needed. Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone for approvals and purchase orders. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT). Maintain company‑issued service truck and conduct daily safety checks.

REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field (alternative combinations of education and experience accepted). Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties. Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months. Pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical (or provide a current DOT medical card with more than four months remaining). Be at least 21 years old due to interstate commerce regulations. Hold a valid state‑of‑residence driver’s license and maintain a Driver Qualification File. REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS OR OBTAINED WITHIN 18 MONTHS ASE T8 (PMI) certification

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Understand implications of new information for current and future problem‑solving and decision‑making. Lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; perform moderately heavy laboring work. Perform repetitive tasks without tiring. Communicate information succinctly and organize messages; engage in effective two‑way communication. Determine appropriate tools and equipment needed. Accurately judge distances between objects and observers. Use logic and reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions and conclusions.
