Job DetailsResponsible for rendering professional care to patients undergoing procedures within the Center, in accordance with established procedures. Functions cooperatively with physicians and staff exhibiting teamwork characteristics. Demonstrates initiative, insight and judgement in decision making process.Assists in preparing patient for designated procedureAccurately obtains vital signs as indicated and documents on chartCleans equipment used as per policyObserves universal precautionsParticipates in QAPI/Safety ProgramAssists with maintaining adequate inventory of suppliesAssists with housekeeping responsibilities as directed by Recovery Room Nurse and/or OR/Procedure NurseInforms nurse in charge when leaving for break, lunch or for the dayPerform other tasks and duties as directed by the Center Director or Physician which are within their legal limitationsSeeks educational opportunities and accepts responsibilities for own professional growth and developmentMust maintain patient right to privacy by not discussing privileged information outside the work area or within hearing range of visitor's family or patientKeeps work area clean, neat and stockedDemonstrates initiative, insight and judgment in decision-making processGreets patients and verifies patient name, orients them to changing areaEscorts patient to stretcher or chair (as applicable). Verifies stretcher is in locked position and assist patient onto stretcher. Places side rails in the raised position.Provides a safe environment for the patient to prevent potential injury. Investigates and intervenes in problem situations, reporting appropriate information to supervisor and documents sameMaintains and cleans equipmentConsults with appropriate supervisor or physician as neededAccepts direction from supervisor or physicians and adheres to established routinesMaintains traffic control and cleanliness in Pre-op/Post-op areaCommunicates patient status and other pertinent information to coworkers as neededProvides emotional support and reassurance to patient and family during perioperative stayRefers situations beyond ability or function to proper personEnsures informed signed consent completed prior to administration of sedationReports errors of commission/omissionAssists with answering the phone when necessaryKnowledgeable of potential exposure to hazardous materials (i.e. patient body fluids, disinfectant chemicals)Maintain flexibility and performs other duties as requiredDocuments pertinent data on required forms in accordance with Center policiesAssists in monitoring and maintaining instruments, supplies and equipment in the CenterAssists in code cart maintenance and defibrillator checksActs appropriate in emergency situations by notifying and assisting appropriate personnelReports to supervisor any unusual occurrences, breaks in technique malfunctioning equipment, any unsafe condition or potential hazardAttends inservice programs and keeps informed of current policies and procedures and standards of practiceMaintains Basic Cardiac Life Support CertificationEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
