About the Role
The Company is in search of an AVP for Derivatives Accounting to join its Investment Accounting team. The successful candidate will be tasked with the oversight of accounting, reporting, and analysis of the company's derivatives portfolio in compliance with both U.S. GAAP and Statutory Accounting. This pivotal role involves serving as the subject matter expert in derivative accounting and financial reporting, leading the monthly accounting close, and ensuring the accuracy of investment records. The AVP will also be responsible for financial statement disclosures, variance analysis, and partnering with various teams to support process improvements and technical accounting research. Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, with a CPA designation being preferred. A minimum of 6-10 years' of accounting experience, particularly in derivatives accounting and/or insurance investment accounting, is required. The role demands a strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles, as well as experience with investment accounting platforms. The ideal candidate will possess excellent technical accounting, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and be adept at communicating complex topics to senior leadership. Leadership or mentoring experience, advanced Microsoft Excel and Office skills, and a proven ability to build relationships across finance and investment teams are also key qualifications for this position.
