PEG Staffing & Recruiting is partnering with an established St. Louis-area organization to add an experienced Senior Billing Specialist to its accounting team.

This position is a great fit for someone who understands the details behind project-based billing and enjoys working closely with operations and project teams. You'll be responsible for keeping billing accurate and timely across multiple active projects while helping ensure job and contract information is properly maintained.

Construction industry experience is strongly preferred.

What You'll Do

• Manage customer invoicing across a variety of project and service work
• Prepare progress billings and final invoices while accurately accounting for retainage
• Review contracts and project documentation to determine appropriate billing requirements
• Partner with Project Managers to confirm project status, costs, and amounts ready to be billed
• Maintain accurate job, contract, and billing information within the company's accounting system
• Set up new projects and maintain items such as billing structures, phase information, contract details, and approved changes
• Process adjustments to project costs when needed
• Assist with pay applications, lien waivers, and customer-specific billing documentation
• Research and correct invoice discrepancies
• Respond to billing questions from customers and internal stakeholders
• Maintain organized supporting documentation and billing records
• Ensure invoices align with contractual requirements and internal accounting procedures
• Provide additional support to the accounting team as business needs arise

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years of billing, accounting, or related experience
• Previous experience within construction, contracting, engineering, or another project-based environment strongly preferred
• Familiarity with construction billing concepts such as progress billing, retainage, change orders, schedules of values, and job costing
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-moving environment
• Confident communicator who can work effectively with accounting, operations, Project Managers, and customers
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Experience with construction accounting or ERP platforms is a plus; Vista/Viewpoint experience is especially helpful
