Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes. Develops, analyzes and applies material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications. Material analyses may include failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications. May review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures.Basic QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Materials, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Composite Engineering preferred)4+ years hands-on experience operating, programming, or overseeing filament winding processesAbility to read and interpret engineering drawingsFamiliarity with composite material handling, safety protocols, and quality inspection methodsDesired SkillsMaster’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline or MBA/Systems Engineering7+ years handling large-scale filament winding or automated fiber placement (AFP)Proven process optimization experience (cycle time reduction, material utilization, defect mitigation)Hands-on exposure to composite design software ( FEM/process simulation tools)Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or PMP certificationExperience leading cross-functional projects, coordinating with tooling, materials, and QA/QC groupsFamiliarity with LM or defense-specific composite standardsPrevious involvement in aerospace, missile, or pressure vessel filament-winding programsPay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $104900.00 - $194700.00At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
