Commercial Contracts Attorney (Contract)

Robert Half is partnering with a leading global organization to identify a Commercial Contracts Attorney for a temporary engagement supporting increased year-end contracting volume. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with strong commercial transaction experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

The successful candidate will provide legal counsel and contract support across a broad range of domestic and international commercial matters. Responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on agreements that support business operations, technology initiatives, publishing activities, consulting services, and other commercial functions.

Location: Hybrid, New York, NY

Schedule: 3 days onsite / 2 days remote (Tuesdays required; team meeting every other Tuesday)

Pay Rate: $60.00 - $70.00 per hour

Duration: Through January 2027

Employment Type: Contract / Temporary Assignment

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a variety of domestic and international commercial agreements.
• Provide practical legal guidance related to contract interpretation, risk management, and commercial business matters.
• Utilize and adapt existing contract templates and standard forms to meet business needs.
• Support licensing, technology, software, publishing, consulting, and other commercial transactions.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to resolve contractual and operational issues.
• Assist with legal process improvements and technology-driven solutions, including contract management initiatives.
• Provide training and guidance on contract formation, commercial law, and related legal topics.
• Advise internal clients across multiple departments on day-to-day legal issues.
• Contribute to special projects and other legal initiatives as needed.
• Manage a high volume of contract reviews while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail.

Qualifications

Required

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active membership and good standing with the New York or New Jersey Bar.
• 2+ years of commercial contracts experience.
• Prior experience in-house and/or at a law firm handling commercial transactions.
• Demonstrated experience drafting, negotiating, and reviewing complex commercial agreements.
• Strong business judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Preferred

• Experience with technology, software, SaaS, IT, or licensing agreements.
• Experience supporting nonprofit, academic, research, or mission-driven organizations.
• Exposure to contract lifecycle management systems and legal technology tools.
• Undergraduate background in science, engineering, or technology disciplines.
