Grow your career with a rapidly growing company that invests in its people and their ability to drive real progress.Preferred Location: ChicagoAlternate Locations: Atlanta, Philadelphia, Houston or DallasThe Claims Manager, Risk Management will be responsible for:· Active oversight of claims currently managed by a Third Party Administrator as well as direct handling of an active inventory of primary and excess claims related to policies written out of the Risk Management Profit Center in various jurisdictions· Performing prompt coverage analysis and determination, investigation into liability and defenses, and timely reserve evaluations· Perform audits through claim systems and on-site visits· Required to attend mediations, settlement conferences, etc. to negotiate cost-effective settlements and attend trials on an “as needed” basis· Provide timely and meaningful information to underwriters, actuaries and reinsurers to update them regarding losses which could impact Starr’s policiesJob Requirements:Bachelors Degree required. JD preferred but not required7 - 10 years of experience in handling general liability claims and/or relevant litigation experience Prior experience evaluating complex coverage issues related to CGL policiesExperience working with and managing TPAsDemonstrated success managing litigation, evaluating and negotiating claims, involving both property damage and bodily injury exposuresCustomer focus with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skillsDetail orientedHigh degree of personal organization and time management skillsPro-active. Must have a sense of urgencyAbility to prioritize and perform successfully in a fast-paced environmentProficiency in Microsoft Word and ExcelSome travel is required and will vary depending on business needs and caseload#LI-LS1For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in Boston, Starr Insurance Companies is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets: experience and training: licensure and certifications: and other business and organizational needs.
