Senior Accountant Job Description:

PrideStaff Financial is partnering with a local manufacturing/construction company who is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team. The Senior Accountant plays a hands-on role in maintaining accurate, timely financial records and delivering strategic operational insights to management; as you drive full-cycle financial reporting, cash flow forecasting, and job-costing, while overseeing day-to-day accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory management, and project profitability. The ideal Senior Accountant is a hands-on, business-minded professional with 3+ years of project-based accounting experience in manufacturing or construction, who blends technical mastery in Quickbooks, Excel, and job-costing, leading with exceptional communication and time-management expertise. The Senior Accountant is a full time, temp-to-hire position in Sacramento, CA.

Senior Accountant Duties & Responsibilities:

• Maintain General Ledger Integrity, Post Journal Entries, Platform Monthly, Quarterly, & Year-End Closes, & Reconcile All Balance Sheet Accounts Including Bank, Credit Card, Loan, & Payroll
• Prepare Accurate Monthly Financial Statements & Management Reports, Analyzing Variances, Margins, Profitability, & Operational Trends to Support Executive Decision-Making 
• Develop Precise Cash Flow Statements, Forecasts, & Corporate Budgets to Proactively Identify Liquidity Concerns & Evaluate Historical Trends 
• Assign & Track Project Revenues & Cost-Including Material, Labor, Subcontractors, & Fight-to Maintain Precise Job-Cost Data
• Analyze Project, Product, & Customer Profitability by Comparing Estimated Costs Against Actual Results & Investigating Significant Variances 
• Collaborate With Management & Operational Personnel to Interpret Financial Performance & Resolve Costing Discrepancies 
• Review Accounts Receivable Aging For Accuracy, Monitor Collections, & Resolve Billing Discrepancies 
• Validate Vendor Invoices For Proper Approval, Coding, & Documentation While Maintaining Accurate Records & Reconciling Vendor Statements 
• Monitor Inventory Records, Review Adjustments, Oversee Cost Allocations, & Assist With Physical Counts & Reconciliations 
• Audit Material & Labor Costs to Provide Management With Actionable Insights on Inventory & Production Expenses 
• Coordinate With Internal Personnel or External Providers to Verify Accurate Processing, Expense Allocation, & Account Reconciliation 
• Enforce & Strengthen Accounting Policies, Secure Necessary Expenditure Authorization, & Maintain Absolute Confidentiality of Financial & Employee Data
• Compile Records & Provide Essential Support For Financial Audits, Corporate Tax Filings, & Insurance Reviews 

Senior Accountant Requirements & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Related Field Preferred But Not Required
• 3+ Years of Accounting Experience Including General Ledger, Financial Statements, & Reports 
• Expert in Preparing & Analyzing Accurate Cash Flow Statements, Forecasts, Margins, Profitability, & Key Performance Metrics (KPI’s)
• Manufacturing, Construction, Contracting, or Project-Based Operational Environments, With a Strong Background in Inventory & Cost Accounting Experience Required
• Full-Cycle Experience Managing Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), & Specialized Job-Cost Accounting 
• Highly Skilled in Advanced Excel Data Modeling & Navigating Various Accounting Software or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems 
• Must be Exceptionally Detail-Oriented & Organized; Adept at Identifying Financial Discrepancies, Diagnosing Root Causes, & Resolving Complex Issues 
• Combines Strong Analytical Skills With a Strategic Business Approach to Drive Effective Financial Oversight & Problem-Solving 
• Excellent Written & Verbal Communication, Capable of Translating Complex Financial Results Into Clear, Actionable Insights For Operational Teams & Senior Management 
• Self-Motivated Professional Who Takes Full Ownership of Responsibilities & Successfully Prioritize Competing Deadlines in Fast-Paced Environments 
• Proficient in Quickbooks & Contractor Foreman or Similar Construction & Project Management Platforms 
• Proven Ability to Work Closely With Project Management, Purchasing, Operations, & Non-Accounting Departments
