Job Title: Industrial Electrician

Job Description

This Industrial Electrician role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving a wide range of industrial electrical systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. You will perform preventive maintenance, support equipment upgrades, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in a safety-focused, heavy industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems and components in a heavy industrial setting.
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, calibrations, and electrical installations to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, equipment manuals, and applicable electrical codes to diagnose issues and complete work accurately.
• Support mechanical team members and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex equipment problems and improve system performance.
• Operate forklifts, aerial lifts, and overhead cranes as needed to safely access and service equipment.
• Use digital tools and computerized systems to complete work orders, document repairs, and maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Support and follow environmental, safety, and quality procedures to maintain a safe and compliant workplace.
• Troubleshoot 480V electrical systems, including motors, controls, and distribution equipment.
• Diagnose and repair HMI-related issues to ensure effective monitoring and control of industrial processes.
• Install, bend, and route conduit, pull wire, and perform electrical wiring to industrial standards.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of experience in industrial electrician maintenance.
• Strong understanding of AC/DC theory, motor controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and hydraulics/pneumatics.
• Hands-on experience with electrical schematics, test instruments, and industrial safety protocols.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting 480V electrical systems in a heavy industrial environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
• Skill in conduit bending, pulling wire, and performing industrial electrical wiring.
• Experience with HMI troubleshooting in industrial applications.
• Ability to work safely in environments with dirt, grease, heat, cold, and at heights.
• Capability to operate forklifts, aerial lifts, and overhead cranes, or willingness to train.
• Comfort using digital tools and systems to complete work orders and maintain records.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Journeyman Certification, completion of an electrical apprenticeship, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in steel industry maintenance or similar heavy industrial operations.
• Welding and light fabrication experience.
• Familiarity with Profibus, Profinet, or Ethernet-based industrial networks.
• Knowledge of PID control loops and combustion systems.
• Interest in ongoing training and continued education to expand technical skills.

Work Environment

This role is based in a heavy industrial facility where you may work in hot conditions and spend parts of your day outdoors. The environment includes exposure to dirt, grease, heat, and cold, and requires working at heights and around large industrial equipment. You will use forklifts, aerial lifts, and overhead cranes to access and service equipment, and rely on digital tools and systems for work order management and documentation. The workplace emphasizes strict adherence to safety, environmental, and quality procedures, with a structured 5-2-2-5 rotating 12-hour schedule that provides regular time off and predictable shift patterns.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
