Nurse Practitioner/ Physician Assistant - Inpatient Oncology

SHIFT: Any (United States of America) A Brief Overview CHOP is hiring a Part‑Time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for the Inpatient Oncology team at our King of Prussia location. The position requires 20 hours per week with off‑shift duty that may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on clinical needs. Ideal Candidate At least 1 year of experience practicing as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. Eligibility for required licensing and certifications (listed below). Responsibilities Assess complex acute, critical, and chronically ill patients for urgent and emergent conditions. Use relevant data to evaluate physiologic instability and formulate a plan of care. Perform therapeutic interventions to stabilize acute and critical health problems, following the Scope of Practice Document and credentialing/privileging process. Analyze indications, contraindications, risk of complications, and cost–benefits of therapeutic interventions. Manage the plan of care through evaluation, modification, and documentation according to the patient’s response to therapy, focusing on optimizing outcomes. Incorporate health promotion, protection, and injury prevention measures into the plan of care within the context of complex acute, critical, and chronic illness. Facilitate patient transitions between and within health care settings. Serve as an educational resource to patients, families, nursing staff, and the provider team; act as a consultant to multidisciplinary health care team members. Participate in scholarly activities, including research and education. Engage in professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs, and seeking appropriate educational offerings. Act as a preceptor and mentor to support the development of nurses, nurse practitioners, students, and other health care providers. Demonstrate commitment to patient safety by speaking up about safety issues and changing practice to enhance safety, sharing errors or potential errors through system reporting mechanisms, and demonstrating shared accountability for safe practice. Education Master’s Degree in Nursing (required). Bachelor’s Degree in Physician Assistant (required). Skills and Abilities Work effectively in an inter‑professional team setting with multiple responsibilities. Use computers and electronic medical records effectively, including basic use of Microsoft Office and patient‑facing technology. Navigate and utilize clinical communication systems and electronic health records. Demonstrate information literacy, including ability to locate, evaluate, and incorporate clinical information efficiently. Use quality improvement tools to collect and analyze clinical data. Understand policies, procedures, confidentiality, security, and privacy regulations regarding clinical information systems. Licenses and Certifications Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania or New Jersey, required upon hire). Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (Pennsylvania) or Advanced Practice Nurse (New Jersey, required upon hire). Prescriptive Authority (Pennsylvania or New Jersey, within 3 months, required). Specialty Certification in the area of education/subspecialty (required upon hire). Certified Physician Assistant (PA‑C) in Pennsylvania or New Jersey, and nationally, required upon hire.
