University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Department: Department of Medicine (DOM) – Division of Hematology Job Title: Tissue Bank Coordinator (Open Rank, Entry to Senior) Position #: 00844432 – Requisition #: 38769 Job Summary: The Tissue Bank Coordinator is a Clinical Science Professionalposition that performs clinical research related functions whichmay include patient-oriented research or research conducted withhuman subjects. Patient-oriented research includes mechanisms ofhuman disease, therapeutic interventions, clinical trials, ordevelopment of new technologies. Clinical Science Professionals mayalso assist with epidemiologic and behavioral studies and/oroutcomes research and health services research. Key Responsibilities: Obtain medical history and current medication information,reviews protocol inclusion/exclusion criteria, and confirmseligibility of subject. Ensure that the informed consent process has occurred, isproperly documented and filed as required. Interview prospective subjects for a variety of clinicalstudies. Educate potential subjects on the details of the studythrough phone contacts and personal interviews. Schedule subject participation in research clinical trial,coordinating availability of necessary space, and clinical support(e.g., physician, nurse practitioner, laboratory, radiology,pharmacy) . Maintain familiarity of all records required for each study,and reviews records after each visit for completeness andaccuracy. Abstract and record all patient data essential to the studyonto required Case Report Forms (CRFs) and into the Clinical Trialsdatabase, as needed, in an accurate and timely fashion. Maintainpatient clinical research files. Report adverse events and serious events to appropriateparties, e.g. Principal Investigator, Study Sponsor, FDA, Data andSafety Monitoring Committee (DSMC), Regulatory AffairsCoordinator. Serve as a contact person for ongoing clinical researchstudies. Schedules monitoring visits and meets with representativesfrom sponsoring pharmaceutical firms or in-house staff for initialorientation to studies and for review of study records. Implement care and services that recognize age-specific needsand issues for customers served. Participate in DSMC audits. Collaborate with hospital staff to ensure tests and proceduresrequired by clinical protocols are performed and documented. Theseinclude, but are not limited to vital signs, phlebotomy, specimenprocessing, EKG's, drug administration, and protocol specific testsand procedures. May be called upon to perform the following specific tests andprocedures: a) blood pressure, pulse, height, weight, andtemperature measurements, b) specimen processing andshipping. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Entry Level: Bachelor's degree in any field. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge and understanding of federal regulations and GoodClinical Practice (GCP). Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing andorally. Ability to establish and maintain effective workingrelationships with employees at all levels throughout theinstitution. Outstanding customer service skills. Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medicalterminology. Ability to interpret and master complex research protocolinformation. Anticipated Pay Range: Entry Level: $48,446 – $61,623 Intermediate Level: $52,721 – $67,061 Senior Level: $56,995 – $72,498 The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
