Registered Nurse - Vascular Access Team (Full Time)

Overview When you join the growing BILH team, you’re not just taking a job, you’re making a difference in people’s lives. This is a full-time position (36 hours per week). The preferred schedule is 3 12-hour shifts (7:00am to 7:00pm), with some flexibility and every 3rd weekend rotation. LHMC is seeking a Vascular Access RN with experience in vascular access consultation, working with medical and nursing colleagues in hospital or procedural settings, and inserting IOs, peripheral intravenous catheters (PIVC), ultrasound-guided peripheral intravenous catheters (USGIV), midlines, and PICCs (at least 1 year experience). The Vascular Access RN will work in a Level I Trauma Center on a team of Vascular Access Nurses in inpatient, outpatient, infusion, procedural, and testing areas. Vascular access devices may include IVAD/port-a-cath, tunneled and non-tunneled dialysis catheters, Centrally Inserted Central Line Catheters (CICCs), PICCs, Cordis, Introducer, SwanGanz, and other venous access devices as required. Responsibilities Provide vascular access care and support across multiple hospital settings, including inpatient, outpatient, infusion, procedural, and testing areas. Insert and manage vascular accessdevices (IOs, PIVCs, USGIV, midlines, PICCs, IVADs, CICCs, dialysis catheters) and educate colleagues in care, maintenance, risks, benefits, and complication prevention. Collaborate with nursing and medical staff to ensure safe, evidence-based vascular access practices in accordance with INS, MAGIC, and SHEA guidelines. Participate in a 3rd weekend rotation and adapt to a Level I Trauma Center environment. Qualifications BSN preferred Current BLS certification from AHA or American Red Cross; ACLS preferred. Board Certified (VA-BC or CRNI preferred); ability to insert, troubleshoot, and educate on vascular access devices in real time. Experience using 3CG Technology and familiarity with BD Site-Rite 8 ultrasound technology for PICC placement and EPIC documentation. Working knowledge of infusion standards and practice guidelines (INS Infusion Therapy Standards of Practice, MAGIC, and SHEA 2022 update) is preferred. Lift 75 lbs maximum with frequent lifting up to 25 lbs. Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager/Tertiary Team Leader, the Staff Registered Nurse: Tertiary Care practices within the Lahey Clinic Professional Practice Model and applicable regulations, demonstrating the organization’s core values and delivering individualized high-quality patient care. The Staff Registered Nurse: Tertiary Care is responsible for planning and delivering age-appropriate, evidence-based nursing care, including health maintenance, teaching, counseling, and collaborative care planning. Demonstrates leadership, clinical judgment, professional relationships, delegation, and adherence to regulatory standards. Responsibilities include professional development, ensuring regulatory compliance, and coordinating care across the continuum. Job Description – Essential Duties & Responsibilities Essential duties include clinical judgment and decision making, professional relationships, clinical leadership, and clinical scholarship. Clinical Judgment and Decision Making: Provide safe patient care with organized, high-quality care delivery; develop culturally competent, individualized care plans; perform systematic assessments; deliver age-appropriate care; evaluate outcomes and adapt plans as needed. Professional Relationships: Build professional relationships with nurses, physicians, patients, and families; educate patients about illness and treatment; support community-based activities. Clinical Leadership: Demonstrate professional behavior, act as a teacher, and fulfill regulatory compliance responsibilities; contribute as a responsive team member. Clinical Scholarship: Uphold quality nursing care, pursue lifelong learning, and apply evidence-based practice. Organizational requirements include alignment with Lahey Clinic guiding principles, policy compliance, quality improvement participation, mandatory education, and customer service standards. Qualifications – Additional Details Education: Graduate of an approved/accredited School of Nursing Licensure/Certification: Current Massachusetts RN license; BLS certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross) Skills/Knowledge: Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge per unit competencies; strong interpersonal and organizational abilities. Experience: Not required, but relevant experience in vascular access is preferred. Pay Range: $37.00 - $95.37 per hour. The base wage range may be affected by factors such as seniority, education, experience, location, and applicable pay practices. Flu vaccination is required for all staff per policy.
