Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist – Accounts Payable to support day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end activities. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, resolving discrepancies, and supporting both internal teams and external vendors in a fast-paced accounting environment.

Accounting Specialist Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and process detailed financial transactions within accounting systems
• The Accounting Specialist will support month-end close activities, ensuring accuracy of ledger balances and reporting
• Research, investigate, and resolve customer and vendor invoice/payment discrepancies
• Communicate with internal departments (Purchasing, Receiving, Inspection) to resolve variances
• The Accounting Specialist will respond to vendor inquiries and provide timely resolution of accounting-related issues
• Prepare, analyze, and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax reports across jurisdictions
• Assist with corporate tax filings and related compliance documentation
• The Accounting Specialist will support Accounts Payable functions and assist lower-level accounting staff as needed

Qualifications of the Accounting Specialist Role

• Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 3+ years of general accounting experience
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with high-volume transactional data
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
