Position: CATV Maintenance TechnicianLocation: Albany County,New YorkReports To: Maintenance SupervisorExperience Required: Minimum 5 years in CATVLicense: Valid state driver’s license with excellent driving recordPosition Summary:The CATV Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing cable systems (up to the headend) to ensure optimal signal quality and system performance. This includes performing preventive maintenance, resolving service issues, and supporting system upgrades and audits. The technician will also serve as an on-call responder for outages and perform all duties of a Service Technician as needed.Key Responsibilities:Perform routine and preventative maintenance on CATV feeder/distribution and trunk systems.Complete work assignments including:Signal egress/ingress detection and correctionSweep alignmentTest point measurementsTroubleshooting and system balancingInstallations and preliminary system proofsIdentify and repair faults within subscriber drops, feeder, and trunk systems to maintain signal level and picture quality standards.Respond to emergency service calls and restore signal outages in feeder/distribution and trunk systems.Serve in an on-call rotation for after-hours support.Audit cable system to identify and terminate unauthorized connections.Activate new plant segments and assist in the proofing process.Provide courteous, professional communication with customers regarding service issues.Follow all federal, state, and company safety standards and documentation procedures.Operate equipment such as bucket trucks and climb poles as needed.Required Qualifications:Education:High school diploma or equivalent.Experience:Minimum of 5 years of CATV field service or maintenance experience.Certifications:Certification in pole climbing and bucket truck operation.Technical Skills:Proficient in using:Signal level meterVolt-ohm meterCable locatorEgress monitoring devicesAC clamp meterTelevision test setSpectrum analyzerBasic TDR (Time Domain Reflectometer)Sweep gear and system mapsOther Requirements:Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.Strong communication skills and a professional, customer-focused demeanor.Ability to work independently and make technical decisions on-site.Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and under varying weather conditions.Preferred Traits:Friendly, patient, and diplomatic.Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills.Organized with the ability to maintain logs and documentation.
