Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN Stepdown for a travel nursing job in Grand Island, Nebraska. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Stepdown Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/14/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Summary: The healthcare provider is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse (RN) for a Step Down Unit position in Nebraska. This role involves caring for patients with complex medical conditions across the adult to geriatric population. The RN will be responsible for monitoring critically ill patients, managing titratable drips, and collaborating with a team to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment. Job Details: Schedule: 12-hour night shifts with a minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 08/31/2026. Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certifications; minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a similar unit. Patient Demographics and Conditions: Young adults through geriatrics, with diagnoses including sepsis, STEMI, CHF, chest pain, COVID, stroke, renal failure, COPD, DKA, and other complex medical issues. Patient Ratios: 1:4-5 for nurses, 1:10 for CNAs, with CNAs available based on census. Duties and Responsibilities: Managing multiple patient conditions, titrating set rate drips such as Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, IV antibiotics, and Insulin. Reading and interpreting telemonitor strips. Conducting shift change, admissions, and discharges efficiently, with a strong focus on teamwork and positive patient experience. Unit Specifics: Training includes one week of classroom education followed by 2-12 hour shifts on the floor. Transition to virtual nursing in June will alter nurse-to-patient ratios to 1:6, with virtual nurses assisting with admissions, discharges, and education. Float Requirements: May float to Medical-Surgical, Inpatient Rehabilitation, or Skilled Care units. Dress Code: Navy Blue scrubs. Additional Notes: High patient flow environment with rapid admissions and discharges. Successful nurses exhibit teamwork, a friendly attitude, and engagement in bedside reporting and hourly rounding.
