Software Engineer - DevOps Platform

Palo Alto, CA / New York City, NY / San Francisco, CA / Seattle, WAEngineering – Engineering - DevOps /Full-time /HybridWe’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our Devops Platform team, where you will blend linux system administration and software engineering skills to build and maintain all our infrastructure and core services running in our data centers and the cloud.Wealthfront’s Infrastructure team is a team of “Generalists with Expertise” who adhere to DevOps principles by building software and services to automate all infrastructure operations. Our objective is to empower all our developers to build and own their systems end-to-end.We're a modern infrastructure engineering team, believing strongly in testing, automation, and standardization through software. We operate in both physical data centers and AWS environments, and leverage open source technologies such as containers, MariaDB, NGINX, Jenkins, and Chef, as well as build tools and services using Go and Java to deliver automated infrastructure to our engineers and ultimately serve our clients.About Wealthfront EngineeringWealthfront’s culture centers around continuous learning, innovation, and quality-driven software development. As a member of the team, you will:Maintain our core infrastructure by writing software to automate application deployment, configure our infrastructure, and manage critical services such as our databases.Ensure that mission critical services operate reliably by triaging and fixing operational issues in linux environments as an on-call engineer, participating in post-mortems, and implementing improvements to prevent future issues.Design, implement, and deploy internal tools and services to accelerate productivity of the wider Engineering team and enable direct ownership of operations.Help manage our server hardware in our physical data centers which may occasionally include travel to our Bay Area or New Jersey data centers for onsite projects.Be involved in key decisions regarding the evolution of our infrastructureThis role could be a fit if you have:A BS or MS in Computer Science or an Engineering fieldExperience with running and troubleshooting modern Linux systems and services in production2+ years of experience developing reliable production-grade software in Java, Go, or other similar languagesProficiency with at least one automation technology such as Terraform, Chef, or PuppetSuccessfully designed and deployed mission-critical complex distributed systemsExcellent critical thinking and communications skills with a desire to both learn from and educate your peersOnce you join, Wealthfront will:Pair you with a 1:1 mentor to guide you through our onboarding program.Encourage you to lead impactful projects which match your professional goals.Support your professional development by providing feedback during weekly 1:1s and during our bi-annual reviews.Be given the opportunity to participate in designing systems and planning for the future of our infrastructureEstimated annual salary range: $150,000 - $189,000 plus equity and a discretionary bonus.Benefits include medical, vision, dental, 401K plan, generous time off, parental leave, wellness reimbursements, professional development, employee investing discount, and more!About WealthfrontHere at Wealthfront, our mission is to create a financial system that favors people, not institutions.
