Legal Counsel for Compliance and Regulatory Matters

Overview Generations Healthcare Network, (GHCN) a consultancy for skilled nursing homes and specialized mental health rehabilitation facilities, located in Lincolnwood, IL, is seeking an In-House Counsel to manage compliance, policies/procedures, state and federal survey responses, investigations and other business matters. Must be licensed and in good standing in Illinois (Indiana licensure a plus). Must have a thorough knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations governing our healthcare settings. Please note, this is not a remote or hybrid position and requires daily commute to our Lincolnwood office and periodic visits to healthcare facilities in our network. The Counsel is responsible for provision of legal services, which typically include, but are not limited to, consultation on any issues that present a risk of liability exposure for the company. The Counsel will serve as a general legal consultant to all facility Administrators/Executive Directors that contract with GHCN. This position does not include responsibilities for labor contracts, HR or Collections. This position reports into the Chief Executive Officer. Primary Legal Services Responsibilities: Review statements of Deficiencies, plans of corrections, informal dispute resolution submissions and state comment submissions upon request Working closely with nursing management to assist with writing IDRs to address IDPH and Joint Commission survey issues Ensure proper waiver of hearing and payment in uncontested matters Defense and/or appeal contested matters Provide defense for all federal, state and local regulatory bodies as needed Primary Loss/Risk Management Responsibilities: Respond to incidents that may result in investigation by the IDPH, other outside entities or may result in lawsuits Interview witnesses/employees/residents Investigate and procure information and materials from outside sources, where necessary Provide legal consultation to facility Administration regarding Reportable Incidents, as requested Provide and supervise risk management strategy; Establish and maintain a system wide risk management protocol Coordinate Media and Family Relations following emergency incidents Other responsibilities as assigned by the CEO Requirements Licensed Attorney in good standing in IL (Indiana a plus) Experience in areas of long term care facility law and practice Knowledge of state, federal and local jurisdictions rules and regulations (IDPH, Medicare, Medicare, CMS, Joint Commission) Salary $135,000 - 150,000 based on experience #J-18808-Ljbffr Generations Healthcare Network
