Location: Douglasville, GA
Pay: $25.00–$35.00 per hour, based on experience

Manual Machinist

We are seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to join a manufacturing team in Douglasville, GA. This is a hands-on machine shop position for someone who is comfortable setting up and operating manual machining equipment and producing quality parts from prints and specifications.

The ideal candidate has experience with manual mills, manual lathes, Bridgeport-style equipment, machine setups, blueprint reading, and precision measuring tools .

We're looking for a machinist who understands the entire machining process—not simply a machine operator. You should be comfortable reviewing a print, setting up the job, selecting tooling, machining the component, inspecting your own work, and making adjustments when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual mills, lathes, and related machine shop equipment
• Machine standard and custom components to print specifications
• Perform milling, turning, drilling, boring, tapping, and other machining operations
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, dimensions, and tolerances
• Determine appropriate tooling, workholding, and machine setups
• Perform in-process inspections and verify finished dimensions
• Use calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges, and other precision measuring tools
• Make machine and tooling adjustments to maintain part quality and tolerances
• Perform secondary machining and fabrication operations as required
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and quality issues
• Perform routine machine maintenance and minor repairs
• Maintain tooling and keep the machine shop clean, organized, and safe
• Complete assigned work according to production schedules and quality standards

Qualifications

• 3+ years of manual machining or related machine shop experience preferred
• Hands-on experience setting up and operating manual mills and/or manual lathes
• Bridgeport, vertical mill, knee mill, engine lathe, or similar equipment experience preferred
• Strong understanding of machining fundamentals and machine setup
• Ability to read and work from blueprints and technical drawings
• Experience working with dimensions and tolerances
• Proficient with micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other precision measuring equipment
• Strong shop math and mechanical aptitude
• Ability to troubleshoot problems and make adjustments independently
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
• Dependable attendance and ability to work independently

CNC machinists with strong hands-on manual machining and setup experience are also encouraged to apply.

Compensation

$25.00–$35.00 per hour, based on experience and machining skill level.

Candidates with strong manual setup experience, mill and lathe experience, blueprint reading ability, and advanced machining skills will be considered toward the higher end of the range.
