Critical Care Float (Nursing)

Job Description

The Critical Care Float Pool is seeking experienced nursing professionals to deliver high-quality patient care across various units. This position involves floating to different areas within the hospital, including the Emergency Department (ED), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), and Medical-Surgical (MS) units.

Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients.
Float to various units, ensuring facilities are met with adequate staffing.
Manage a patient assignment that may include 6-7 patients in the MS units.
Utilize specialized equipment, including Intra-aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Ventriculostomy, ICP monitoring, and Targeted Temperature Management (TTM).

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of Critical Care nursing experience, specifically in ICU settings.
Valid New York RN license required at the time of submission.
Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) are mandatory.
Successfully complete aNURSYS report and verification of all active RN licenses.

Unit Information

Unit: Critical Care Float Pool
Number of Beds: 42
Common Patient Diagnoses: Neurological conditions (including strokes), Sepsis, Altered Mental Status (AMS), Neuro Interventions (e.g., TCAR), Respiratory Failure, Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), and Post-St-elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI).
Floating is required, and block scheduling is not guaranteed.
Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Shift Information

Shifts primarily run from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM.
