Registered Nurse - PICU

Job Description

Job Summary:

Provide specialized nursing care to pediatric patients in the Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Ensure patient safety, coordinate treatment plans, and support families through critical care processes.

Responsibilities:

• Administer and titrate sedation and vasoactive medications following physician protocols.
  
• Monitor and interpret patient vital signs, including reading monitor strips and responding to abnormalities.
  
• Manage invasive devices such as ventilators, tracheostomies, G-Tubes, and intravenous lines.
  
• Collaborate with medical teams, including pediatricians, RTs, and specialists, to coordinate patient care.
  
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and responses accurately in the electronic medical record.
  
• Assist with patient positioning, feeding, and routine care, including feeding and blood sugar monitoring.

Qualifications:

• Possess a valid RN license with active state credentials.
  
• Have at least 2 years of PICU experience in a hospital setting.
  
• Hold current certifications in BLS and PALS.
  
• Demonstrate ability to titrate drips such as sedation and vasoactive agents.
  
• Comfortably handle adult patients if needed, especially in OB or L&D units.
  
• Maintain COVID vaccination status or approved exemption documentation.
