Senior Technical Product Manager

About the role

Quo runs a real-time communications platform, and everything our customers experience — calls that connect instantly, messages that deliver reliably, integrations that just work — rests on infrastructure that has to be fast, resilient, and boring in the best possible way. This role owns the product direction for the two teams that make that possible: Scale & Reliability and Platform Engineering .
You'll treat platform and infrastructure as a product, with developer efficiency,reducing infrastructure-driven incidents and development risk as your North Star. You'll set roadmap and priorities across reliability investment and platform capabilities, partner deeply with senior engineering leaders, negotiate with peer PMs, and make the hard tradeoffs between velocity, cost, and resilience explicit and defensible. You'll be the connective tissue across engineering, product, and design, a force multiplier who turns strategy into a sequenced, funded, and delivered roadmap, keeping complex, multi-team programs on track from scoping through launch and retrospective.
This is a technical PM role. You won't write the code, but you'll be fluent in the architecture, comfortable in a design review, and credible with staff and principal engineers.

Some of the things you’ll do:

• Own the business case for Platform — represent the team's priorities to executives and hold the roadmap accountable to measurable outcomes, not just delivery.
• Own reliability as a product discipline — Service Level Objectives and platform health observability to reduce errors and incidents across our services, and negotiate with peer PMs to balance velocity with stability.
• Build for the future — capacity planning ahead of growth, and the product side of incident management, from postmortem to funded fix.
• Set the internal developer platform roadmap — paved paths, shared services, and self-serve tooling — with developer velocity and adoption as first-class metrics.
• Hold the line on real-time performance — latency and media quality where milliseconds are the product.
• Steer on the metrics that matter — uptime, latency, incident load, adoption, unit cost — using data and judgment to decide when to slow down and when to ship, and to make that case to product, engineering, and finance alike.
• Run intake and prioritization of the Platform backlog — balancing business needs, technical requirements, and team capacity, and partnering with engineering leads to plan and staff initiatives.
• Surface risks early and drive resolution — proactively identify technical risks, capacity constraints, and architectural gaps, and escalate to leadership with clear context and a recommended path forward.

About you

• 5+ years in product management , including meaningful time as a technical, platform, or infrastructure PM (or an eng/SRE-to-PM path ).
• Technical fluency in distributed systems — you can hold your own on architecture, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and the failure modes of systems at scale.
• Hands-on experience with Service Level Objective frameworks, on-call, and incident management — you've lived the reliability lifecycle with an at-scale service.
• A platform-as-a-product mindset : you understand that internal developers are customers, and that adoption is earned.
• Strong partnership skills with staff/principal engineers and engineering leaders — you build trust through clear thinking and technical credibility.
• Data-driven and outcome-oriented , with the judgment to know which metric is actually the one that matters.
• High ownership mentality — you treat the programs you run as your own and do what it takes to make them succeed.

Nice to have

• Background in real-time systems, telephony/VoIP/CPaaS, or messaging — or in another domain where high-availability, multi-tenant, latency-sensitive infrastructure is non-negotiable (e.g., identity/security, payments, streaming).
• Experience standing up or scaling an internal developer platform .
• Familiarity with cost/efficiency optimization at cloud scale.
• Exposure to compliance-driven delivery (SOC 2, HIPAA, FedRAMP, ISO 27001).

Compensation

The annual base salary range for this position in the US is $165,000 - $194,000 USD, and in Canada is $166,000 - $196,000 CAD, plus equity and benefits. This range is designed to align with market rates in areas where we are actively recruiting across the US and Canada.
