Speech Language Pathologist

Per Diem Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) AVIR at Alice 800 Coyote Trail, Alice, TX 78333 Make a Difference in the Lives of Our Residents! AVIR at Alice is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Per Diem Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our in-house rehabilitation team. This is an excellent opportunity for an SLP who enjoys providing patient-centered care and collaborating with residents, families, nursing staff, and other rehabilitation professionals to help residents improve communication, swallowing safety, cognitive function, and overall quality of life. Position Responsibilities Evaluate residents' speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities. Develop individualized speech-language pathology treatment plans based on residents' needs, goals, and plan of care. Provide skilled speech-language pathology services in accordance with residents' treatment plans. Treat communication disorders, including speech, language, voice, and cognitive-communication deficits. Assess and treat swallowing and feeding disorders and provide appropriate dysphagia management. Recommend and implement appropriate compensatory strategies, therapeutic exercises, and communication techniques. Make recommendations regarding diet texture, liquid consistency, swallowing precautions, and safe feeding strategies as clinically indicated. Monitor residents' progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate. Complete accurate and timely evaluations, treatment documentation, progress notes, and recommendations. Collaborate with OTs, PTs, PTAs, COTAs, nursing staff, physicians, dietary staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Educate residents, families, and caregivers regarding communication strategies, swallowing safety, therapeutic techniques, and recommendations. Participate in care planning and interdisciplinary team meetings as appropriate. Maintain compliance with facility, state, federal, and professional standards and regulations. Promote a compassionate, respectful, and resident-centered approach to care. Qualifications Current Texas Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) license in good standing. Graduate of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program. ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) , as applicable. Strong clinical, communication, documentation, and organizational skills. Experience in skilled nursing, subacute rehabilitation, or a similar setting preferred. Knowledge of dysphagia management and cognitive-communication disorders preferred. Compassionate, dependable, and resident-focused approach to care.
