Position Custodian Location Marshalltown, IA Job Id 877 # of Openings 1 Department Plant Services Reports To Campus Supervisor of Plant Services Job Classification Non-Exempt Summary The purpose of this position is to ensure the college campus remains clean and sanitary. This position is responsible for appropriate use and maintenance of plant services and other college machinery/equipment. A high level of customer service is expected in investigating, responding to and completing tasks related to all facilities on campus. This position works together with the custodial team to ensure all buildings and grounds meet standards for health and safety at all times. Job Responsibilities Clean and sanitize classrooms and offices. Clean and sanitize restrooms. Maintain the cleanliness of floors (hardwood and carpets). Collect and dispose of garbage in proper receptacles. Wash windows. Set up and break down rooms/areas for events (tables/chairs). Unlock buildings and rooms for other staff. Move furniture in and out of dorm rooms. Prepare dorm rooms and apartments for incoming students. Clean locker rooms. Extract carpets. Finish floors using floor machines. Supports the overall success of the District by performing other duties as assigned. Works and communicates professionally with others in a timely manner. Performs in a manner which benefits student learning. Education and Experience Completion of High school/GED. Abilities Knowledge of required procedures for cleaning and maintaining flooring. Knowledge of and ability to safely use chemical products. Ability to use and repair machines and equipment. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Good customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and within a team. Base Salary $12.14-$16.19 per hour – actual salary will be based on experience and education.
