We are seeking an experienced HRIS & Payroll Financial Specialist to lead and support the configuration, deployment, and ongoing optimization of our HRIS and payroll systems. This role requires deep expertise in multi-state payroll processing, tax regulations, and financial controls, combined with hands-on experience implementing and maintaining HRIS platforms. The ideal candidate will act as a subject matter expert, ensuring system accuracy, compliance, and alignment with business and financial requirements.Essential Functions, Duties, and ResponsibilitiesHRIS Management & ImplementationServe as the HRIS subject matter expert, supporting system configuration, deployment, testing, and upgradesLead or contribute to HRIS implementations, enhancements, and integrations with payroll and finance systemsTranslate business, HR, and payroll requirements into system configurations and functional solutionsManage system security, roles, workflows, and data integrityPartner with vendors and internal stakeholders on system issues, enhancements, and roadmap planningPayroll & Tax ExpertiseOversee or support end-to-end multi-state payroll processing with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and compliance including salaried, hourly and commission-only employeesEnsure payroll processes comply with all applicable federal, state, and local tax regulationsMonitor changes in payroll legislation and tax requirements impacting a national workforce and assess system and process impactsEnsure proper withholding, garnishments and benefit deductionsRespond to employee payroll inquiries with professionalism and confidentialityAct as the escalation point for complex payroll, tax, and regulatory issuesFinancial & Compliance OversightApply strong financial and accounting principles to payroll reporting, reconciliations, and auditsEnsure payroll data aligns with general ledger, budgeting, and financial reporting requirementsSupport internal and external audits related to payroll, tax, and HRIS controlsDevelop and maintain documentation for payroll and HRIS processes, controls, and proceduresReporting & AnalyticsCreate and maintain payroll, HR, and financial reports using HRIS and payroll systemsAnalyze payroll and workforce data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunitiesSupport leadership with accurate, timely insights related to payroll costs and complianceSupport insurance renewalsSupport with internal and external payroll audits.Educational and Experience RequirementsMinimum 5–8 years of progressive experience in HRIS, payroll, or related rolesDemonstrated hands-on experience with HRIS configuration, implementation, deployment, and ongoing system supportExtensive experience in payroll processing, including complex payroll environments and compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulationsStrong background in financial and accounting principles as they relate to payroll, reconciliations, audits, and general ledger integrationExperience partnering cross-functionally with HR, Finance, IT, and external vendorsProven ability to act as a subject matter expert for HRIS and payroll systems, providing guidance, troubleshooting, and best-practice recommendationsExperience with major HRIS/payroll platforms such as Workday, ADP, UKG, or PaycomADP implementation experience is a plus and experience with Xactly and managing complex commission-based programs is strongly preferredKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExpert knowledge of HRIS and payroll systems, including configuration, deployment, integrations, upgrades, and ongoing system supportAdvanced understanding of multistate payroll processes, wage and hour laws, and federal, state, and local tax regulationsStrong financial and accounting expertise related to payroll, benefits, reconciliations, audits, and general ledger integrationAbility to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex HRIS and
