Lead City Desk Representative – Automotive Customer Service

Location: Bloomington, MN
Pay: $23–$24 per hour
Position Type: Full-Time

Job Overview

Are you an experienced automotive parts or customer service professional ready to take the next step into a leadership role?

We are seeking a dependable, customer-focused Lead City Desk Representative for an established company in Bloomington, MN. This position is ideal for someone with a background in automotive parts, automotive retail, specialty tools, or related products who enjoys helping customers, solving problems, and supporting a team.

You will initially train and work as a City Desk Representative to learn the company's products, customers, and daily operations. Once trained, you will take on additional responsibilities supporting and coordinating the work of two other City Desk Representatives.

Automotive industry experience is the most important qualification for this position. Candidates with experience at AutoZone, NAPA, O'Reilly Auto Parts, automotive dealerships, auto repair shops, or similar automotive businesses are encouraged to apply. Previous team lead or supervisory experience is preferred.

This is a hands-on customer service position, not an IT or technical support role.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist customers with questions about automotive products, parts, specialty tools, and related equipment.
• Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service and build strong customer relationships.
• Process customer transactions and assist with orders, product inquiries, and day-to-day service needs.
• Resolve customer concerns and serve as an escalation point for more complex issues.
• Learn the company's products, procedures, and customer base before transitioning into the lead role.
• Provide daily guidance and support to two City Desk Representatives.
• Help coordinate vacation schedules, time-off coverage, and daily workflow.
• Exercise sound judgment when assisting with customer resolutions and transactions requiring additional authorization.
• Assist with inventory-related tasks and maintain accurate records.
• Use Microsoft Excel and other basic computer programs to enter information, track details, and support daily operations.
• Communicate with customers and coworkers to ensure accurate, timely service.

Qualifications

• Automotive industry experience is strongly preferred and is the top priority.
• Experience with automotive parts, specialty tools, automotive repair products, or related equipment.
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate professionally with customers.
• Previous experience in automotive parts sales, counter sales, customer service, or a similar role.
• Leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience is preferred.
• Basic to intermediate Microsoft Excel skills and general computer proficiency.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to handle customer concerns calmly and professionally.
• Organized, dependable, and able to manage competing priorities.
• Comfortable helping coordinate the work and schedules of a small team.
• Reliable transportation and a strong attendance record.
