Event Staff (Community Centers)

Position Summary Understand and abide by all policies and procedures outlined in the Part‑Time Employee Manual. Enforce all Milwaukee Public Schools and Milwaukee Recreation policies and rules. A working knowledge of Community Center policies, procedures, programs, and services. Provide a safe environment for participants and staff. Assist with crowd control and maintaining order within the facility. Assist with scanning and entry control operations. Communicate effectively with participants/patrons and staff. Always be professional in the workplace. Assist with providing general direction and instructions to participants Remain alert, free of distractions and diffuse situations before they escalation. Other duties as assigned. A working knowledge of Community Center programs, policies, procedures, and services. Provide a safe environment for participants and staff. Assist with crowd control and maintaining order within the facility. Assist with scanning and entry control operations. Ancillary support to the building director, building staff and program instructors with all crisis intervention management of potential hostile situations. Communicate effectively with participants/patrons and staff. Always be professional in the workplace. Assist with providing general direction and instructions to participants Remain alert, free of distractions and diffuse situations before they escalation. Successful completion of Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI). Available to complete 8 hour training course on CPI and Garrett Metal Detection System. Preferred Experience Have a strong desire to work and mentor young people in the community. Be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma. Possess effective verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Ability to effectively communicate with participants, parents, and staff. Ability to foster positive working relationships. Ability to relate to and empathize with participants' issues and de‑escalate conflicts. Excellent decision‑making skills and ability to carry out verbal and written instructions. Ability to delegate job duties as needed. Other duties as assigned. #J-18808-Ljbffr
