Overview Location: Rochester, New York Base Salary: $120,000 – $140,000 Industry: Aerospace / Aviation / Defense Job Category: Engineering – Electrical Job Type: Full Time Schedule: Work 9 out of every 14 days – totaling 80 hours worked – every other Friday off Join a dynamic team in the aerospace sector as a Digital Hardware Engineer, where you\'ll take ownership of the full hardware lifecycle—from conceptualizing high-level requirements to seeing your designs move through manufacturing and into the field. Responsibilities High-Speed Digital Protocols: Demonstrate comprehensive technical knowledge of embedded microprocessor design and integration for ARM Cores, DDR memory interfaces, and high-bandwidth USB and Ethernet. Design Simulation & Analysis: Utilize simulation tools such as LTSpice for circuitry, HyperLynx for signal integrity, and MATLAB for system-level modeling. Advanced Architecture & PCB Design: Lead the full design cycle, including requirement analysis, schematic capture (using Mentor VX/Designer), and complex high-speed layout analysis. Verification & Validation (V&V): Execute subsystem and system-level test plans, using lab equipment like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers to identify and resolve critical hardware defects. Compliance & Reliability Engineering: Design for MIL-STD-461 (EMI/EMC) and adhere to IPC standards to ensure hardware survivability in high-reliability environments. Security Clearance Eligibility: Ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in electrical/computer engineering or a related field. 6+ years of relevant experience (4+ years with a master’s degree). Preferred Additional Skills Familiarity with SDR architectures, embedded SW/VHDL, and configuration management tools like Agile. Nuanced understanding of Software Defined Radio (SDR) architectures and interactions between digital boards and RF circuitry. Experience using embedded software, scripting (e.g., Python), or VHDL to automate design analysis and facilitate rapid troubleshooting. Proficiency with Agile PLM software to manage product data and streamline manufacturing introduction. Familiarity with Boundary Scan tools (JTAG) for testing high-density PCBAs where physical probe access is limited.
