Mays Business School is seeking a collaborative and team-oriented Instructional Designer II to assist with designing and developing innovative and high-quality online, hybrid, and face-to-face learning content. This position will work closely with faculty, subject matter experts, and the Mays Business School staff to develop digitally enhanced courses that promote student engagement and interactivity with course content, peers, and instructors across Mays Business School. Through the learning design process, the Instructional Designer will partner with faculty to create high-quality learning experiences and materials that align with program objectives. This role will also research and evaluate emerging instructional design innovations while developing faculty resources and training materials to support the design process. What You Need to Know
Salary: $63,000 - $70,000/annually (Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience).

Instructional Design - Independently meets with faculty and subject matter experts to design and develop innovative, high-quality online, hybrid, and face-to-face learning content that promotes student engagement with course materials, the instructor, and peers. Facilitates the learning design process by developing learning objectives that align with course materials and assignments. Creates and curates learning content that is accessible, engaging, and promotes active learning. Designs activities that promote interactivity with the content, between students, and between students and instructors. Builds learning content in the TAMU Canvas environment. Collaborates with faculty to locate and evaluate learning materials, to include open educational resources (OER) and third-party media. Provides training and resources on the topics of copyright and fair use. Works with subject matter experts (SMEs) on the planning of media assets, to include video, audio, graphics, and other appropriate media. Remains abreast of emerging trends in online instruction, pedagogy, and tools particularly those related to copyright issues, accessibility, and the use of open educational resources.
Quality Assurance - Evaluates the quality of courses using a course quality rubric established as a standard by Mays Business School.
Project Management - Monitors progress, anticipates and troubleshoots roadblocks, recalibrates deliverables and timelines, and communicates frequently with the director about the progress of all assigned projects. Builds collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders through face-to-face, digital, and remote communication channels. Manages communications and utilizes excellent time management skills to complete projects. Uses project management system to document project progress. Maintains documentation for each project. Reports on learning design project progress. Manages and maintains digital asset library for graphic design projects.
Faculty Development - Develops guides, resources, and training materials to support faculty with the learning design process and research-based best practices in teaching and learning across teaching modalities, and the digital learning environment. Provides training to faculty on the LMS and other tools associated with the digital learning environments (e.g., instructional technologies, Zoom and other third-party tools).
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in applicable field such as curriculum and instruction, instructional design, instructional technology, training and development or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two years of experience in instructional design or related experience in K-12 education, higher education, adult learning and literacy, or training and development.
A Well-Qualified Candidate Will Also Possess:
MS, MA, or PhD degree in education, online learning, instructional design, instructional technology, curriculum & instruction, UX/UI design, or a related field.
More than two years of experience in instructional design or related experience in K-12 education, higher education, adult learning & literacy, or training and development.
Experience curating, researching, writing, proofreading, and editing instructional materials.
Experience designing, developing, and implementing innovative, engaging, and accessible online, hybrid, and face-to-face learning content;
Experience interacting with faculty and students to provide support.
Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to apply instructional design theories, principles, best practices, and current trends in teaching and learning to the design and development of innovative, high-quality online, hybrid, and face-to-face learning content. Knowledge of quality design standards such as Quality Matters, OLC Scorecard, or similar rubrics.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects and work collaboratively and professionally with others.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships, collaborate within and across teams, and with faculty and subject matter experts.
Expert knowledge of quality course design and associated rubrics.
Demonstrated proficiency in managing complex workflows and applying project management best practices.
Experience leading staff development of other instructional designers.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and demonstrated performance in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Canvas and contemporary learning technologies, and in the use of basic programming relating to online learning (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.).
Knowledge of project management best practices and tools such as Wrike or related.
Educational technology tools leveraging AI.
