Job Summary

Join a dedicated healthcare team as an Outpatient Registered Nurse in Wrangell, Alaska. This role is integral to the efficient operation of an ambulatory care clinic, focusing on providing comprehensive patient care and supporting medical staff within a dynamic outpatient setting. The Registered Nurse will contribute to a positive patient experience by delivering high-quality clinical services and ensuring smooth daily clinic operations.

This position involves direct patient interaction, assisting providers, managing clinic flow, and maintaining essential supplies. This is a 1-week contract assignment, offering an opportunity to contribute to vital community health services.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical nursing care to patients in an outpatient, ambulatory setting.
• Collaborate effectively with providers, clinic staff, and management to ensure optimal patient outcomes, efficient resource utilization, and adherence to organizational standards.
• Contribute to the efficient daily operations of the clinic, including patient intake, flow management, and front desk support as needed.
• Manage and maintain accurate inventory of medications and clinic supplies.
• Perform and oversee quality control checks for Point of Care (POC) testing.
• Ensure accurate, timely, and professional documentation of all patient care and services.
• Assist with clinic opening and closing procedures.
• Anticipate and support the needs of providers and other healthcare team members to facilitate efficient and quality patient care delivery.
• Communicate effectively with interdepartmental teams to serve as a valuable resource for patients, providers, and colleagues.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of acute care experience.

Skills & Competencies

• Clinical Skills: Application of the nursing process, patient assessments, anticipation of patient/provider needs, specimen collection, Point of Care (POC) testing, medication inventory management, safety and infection control principles.
• Competency Requirements: Clinical Competency (required within 3 months of hire and every three years), High Risk Competency (required within 3 months of hire and annually).
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in using computers and medical equipment.
• Soft Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong customer service orientation, ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment, team player with collaborative spirit, aptitude for teaching and patient education, problem-solving and critical thinking skills, ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships, proactive in seeking assistance when needed.

Licensing Requirements
