The Journeyman Millwright installs and maintains machinery and equipment using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools according to layout plans, blueprints, or other drawing specifications. About The Role To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following Essential Duties satisfactorily. Reads and interpret blueprints, schematics and detailed repair drawings related to construction equipment and machinery; determining work procedures Dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools Assembles and installs equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails, using hand tools and power tools Constructs foundation for machines using hand tools and building materials; such as wood, cement, and steel Aligns machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb Grind and file machinery parts both on-site and in controlled circumstances May repair and lubricate machines and equipment Operate heavy equipment and machinery in the performance of the essential duties Work with and around hazardous materials, as well as at heights and in confined spaces in the performance of these essential duties Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner Regular attendance and punctuality are essential for employee job performance Perform other duties as assigned Requirements Exposure to varying outdoor conditions, loud noise, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, varying fumes or odors; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; and work in ditches/excavations Work at heights, such as by working on ladders, scaffolds, platforms, tops of single and multi-story buildings, as well as working in confined spaces such as underneath single story and multi-story buildings Standing work (frequently) on a level, uneven, indoor, outdoor, elevated, confined spaces surface various tools and equipment to dismantle machinery and equipment using various hand and power tools Workers must be able to see well (either naturally or with correction) and coordinate the movements of their eyes, arms, hands and fingers fully Must be able to complete job duties proficiently while adapting to changing demands and priorities Safety Sensitive This position is designated as a safety-sensitive position as it requires the ability to concentrate for long periods of time while: operating, maintaining, and monitoring heavy equipment, machinery, and motor vehicles. This work will often be done with and around hazardous materials at elevated heights and confined spaces. A lapse of attention on the job could result in injury, illness, or death.
