NGM- Sr. Capital Projects Engineer

Position Description:Are you a hands‑on engineering professional who thrives in the field and enjoys seeing projects through from concept to startup?Nevada Gold Mines is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer (Project Manager) who excels in field execution, works as an invested owner, and partners closely with operations, maintenance, technical services, HSE, and other departments to deliver safe, practical, fit‑for‑purpose projects. Responsibilities:Spend significant time in the field during planning, construction, commissioning, and handover to fully understand site conditions and ensure safe, efficient, and practical project executionLead field engineering activities, verify design alignment with real‑world conditions, support construction teams, and proactively address issues before they impact scope, schedule, or costDevelop project execution plan and build owner’s team with necessary resourcesDrive projects from concept through closeoutOversee project execution, both in the field and in the office, ensuring strong visibility, alignment, and communication with construction teams, contractors, and operational stakeholdersSupervise, mentor and train subordinate project engineers, define clear objectives and expectations of direct reports, evaluate performance, provide verbal and written feedback on career growth, and encourage innovative thinking and process improvementDevelop proposals and cost estimates, including required equipment, materials, personnel, and other peripheral servicesRepresent stakeholder interests in the field during execution and ensure clear communication between engineering teams, contractors, and site departmentsPrepare, schedule, coordinate, and monitor assigned engineering projects and manage projects within the constraints of time, cost, and scope, and report any significant deviations including proposed countermeasuresConfirm engineering specifications and criteria comply with applicable regulatory and corporate codes, practices, policies, standards, and specificationsInterface with environmental department to ensure all permitting is in place to prevent delays to construction, commissioning, and operation of projectPrepare capital allocation requests including all required supporting documentation, and champion the project to seek approval and fundingMaintain accurate records of committed, expended, and forecast costs associated with the project against the approved budgetPerform risk and consequences analysis for projects to help understand both risks and opportunities that may occur during each project phaseOversee quality control tasks against budgets, schedules, plans, and how to produce project status reports for distributionDevelop procurement specifications for equipment and work scopes for engineering, procurement, and construction bid packagesEffectively communicate with members of the project team and collaborate with stakeholders to adopt the most cost effective and efficient practicesProvide technical review for procurement tender and award activitiesCreate and/or update standard operating procedures and asset management tactics, and how the process is used to provide training to operating personnel during commissioning and start-upDevelop framework to measure a project's metrics to monitor performance, and contribute to daily, weekly, and monthly data reconciliation and analytics reportingEnsure all project control procedures are implemented and validated through regular field engagement, progress tracking, and coordination with cross‑functional project participantsPreform other duties as requiredQualifications:B.S. degree in Engineering or related field and/or 10+ year’s experience directly managing contractor work in the field requiredDemonstrated experience working in field-based environments such as construction sites, industrial facilities, or mining operations required8 or more years of project planning and project management experience with demonstrated competency in project execution, project management, construction, commissioning, and handover preferred Experience leading teams of Engineers, Field Staff, and Contractors requiredProficient working in field environments for extended periods, including regular walkdowns, construction oversight, and commissioning support preferredKnowledge of contract and contractor management practices requiredKnowledge of applicable engineering and peripheral codes, policies, standards, and best practices preferredDemonstrated computer literacy and practical application of MS Office products including Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint requiredFamiliarity with design, and scheduling software preferredStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with operations, maintenance, and multi‑disciplinary teams required What Success Looks Like in This RoleYou are regularly in the field and deeply familiar with your projects’
