Position: Labor and Delivery or Maternal Infant Nurse (Direct Accession Officer)

Rank: Ensign (O-1) to Lieutenant (O-3), depending on experience

Location: Naval Medical Centers and Military Treatment Facilities worldwide (including stateside and overseas locations)

About the Role

The Navy Nurse Corps is seeking experienced Maternal Infant and Labor and delivery nurses to serve as commissioned officers. As a Direct Accession Labor and Delivery and/or Postpartum Nurse, you will provide advanced nursing care to active-duty service members, retirees, and their families in various settings.

This is a direct commissioning opportunity for qualified civilian nurses who want to serve their country while advancing their clinical practice in a dynamic military healthcare system.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide prenatal, labor, delivery, postpartum, and neonatal care in military hospitals and clinics.
• Collaborate with Obstetricians, Pediatricians, and other specialists to ensure optimal maternal and infant health.
• Mentor Hospital Corpsmen in basic healthcare skills.
• Participate in humanitarian missions, disaster relief, and global deployments offering prenatal and postpartum care.
• Educate families on maternal health, well-being, and infant care practices.

Minimum Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program
• Current, unrestricted RN license in any U.S. state or territory
• Minimum 1–2 years of recent Labor and Delivery and/or Postpartum care experience
• RNC-OB certification preferred (not required)
• Must meet Navy physical and medical standards and be eligible for a secret security clearance
• Maximum age: Generally, under 42 at time of commissioning (waivers considered on a case-by-case basis)
