Senior Software Engineer - Hybrid

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Hybrid for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Charlotte, NC. This is an 18 month contract opportunity.

This position joins a scrum team focused on API development for the Core Banking and Transaction Processing product area. The role involves building highly scalable and resilient microservices and business service applications. The ideal candidate will also play a key role in transformation activities, including tech modernization, cloud migration, and test automation.

Responsibilities:

• Lead moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within technical domain environments
• Contribute to large-scale planning of strategies
• Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs associated with the technology domain, including upgrades and deployments
• Review and resolve moderately complex technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of technologies and procedures
• Be hands-on with design/development, unit testing and building high-quality solutions (APIs - REST/SOAP with XML, JSON) that are simple, scalable, reliable, secure and maintainable
• Participate in all phases of the SDLC including documentation, code reviews, research and production issue research/support
• Ensure effective Production systems monitoring, alarming and notification response/maintenance
• Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals

Requirements:

• 4 years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work or consulting experience, training, military experience, education
• 4 years of experience with end-to-end design and delivery of microservices/web services (API) applications
• 4 years of Java/Spring experience
• 2 years of Oracle experience
• 4 years of Agile experience
• 2 years of experience with one or more Observability/Monitoring tools: Elastic, Kibana, Grafana, AppDynamics, Splunk, and Dynatrace
• Experience with AI tooling such as GitHub, CoPilot, etc.
• OCP experience
• Ability to work on-site at the approved location 3 days per week

Desired skills:

• 2 years of LINUX/UNIX experience
• 4 years of software design and development experience in leading/managing web services/API applications in a high-volume production environment
• Web Services/Microservices delivery experience on internal or external cloud platforms
• Experience supporting, leading and working with offshore teams
• Experience with one or more Agile tools used for tracking user stories or backlogs, such as Confluence or Jira
• Knowledge and understanding of secure SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) methodologies, including static/dynamic testing
• Experience with Kafka and PubSub patterns (including event-driven architecture)
• Knowledge and understanding of cloud readiness/cloud design principles for Java/Spring applications
• Experience or familiarity with Apigee or API Management tools
