Job Description
The Forklift Operator plays a key role in ensuring products move safely and efficiently through a food manufacturing warehouse. This position is responsible for loading, unloading, and shipping products while maintaining accurate orders and high quality standards. The role involves operating forklifts and other material handling equipment, supporting production with raw materials, and following strict food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety guidelines.
Responsibilities

• Load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments in a timely and accurate manner.
• Verify shipment quantities and inspect product quality to ensure orders meet standards.
• Report any order discrepancies, damages, or quality issues to supervisors promptly.
• Complete all shipping and receiving paperwork, including bills of lading and invoices, accurately and legibly.
• Pick, stage, and load finished products onto trucks according to shipping schedules.
• Store materials and finished goods properly in designated warehouse areas to maintain organization and product integrity.
• Supply raw materials such as corn and flour to production lines to support continuous manufacturing operations.
• Package products for shipping, including shrink wrapping, labeling, and boxing as required.
• Safely operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts and other material handling equipment to move products, pallets, and materials throughout the facility.
• Perform pre-operation and routine equipment checks to ensure forklifts and tools are in safe working condition.
• Keep the work area, docks, and storage locations clean, organized, and free of hazards.
• Track inventory and shipments using established procedures and tools.
• Inspect incoming and outgoing materials to confirm accuracy and condition.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and counts to support warehouse and production planning.
• Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), OSHA, and food safety rules at all times.
• Clean equipment, storage areas, and warehouse spaces regularly to meet sanitation standards.
• Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety procedures consistently.
• Handle materials and pallets safely, including palletizing and depalletizing as needed.
• Collaborate with warehouse, production, and shipping teams to meet daily operational goals.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or GED.
• Forklift operating experience, with at least 1+ year preferred.
• Proficiency operating sit-down and stand-up forklifts in a warehouse environment.
• Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including loading and unloading trucks.
• Ability to complete shipping and receiving paperwork accurately, including bills of lading and invoices.
• Knowledge of warehouse operations, including picking, staging, storing, and palletizing materials.
• Ability to lift, move, and handle materials and pallets safely and repeatedly.
• Capability to work on your feet for extended periods in a warehouse and production environment.
• Understanding of food safety practices and working in a food manufacturing or similar environment.
• Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, OSHA, and general safety procedures.
• Attention to detail for verifying quantities, inspecting product quality, and maintaining accurate records.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work effectively as part of a team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in a food manufacturing warehouse is beneficial.
• Experience supplying raw materials to production lines such as corn and flour is an advantage.
• Background in inventory tracking and cycle counts is helpful.
• Experience with shrink wrapping, labeling, and boxing products for shipment.
• Strong organizational skills to maintain orderly storage areas and workspaces.
• Commitment to cleanliness, sanitation, and safe work habits in a production environment.
• Willingness to learn and follow company-specific processes and food safety standards.

Work Environment
This role is based in a food manufacturing warehouse environment that combines production support and distribution activities. Work is performed around forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment, with frequent movement of pallets, raw materials, and finished goods. The position requires being on your feet for most of the shift and regularly lifting and moving materials. The facility operates under strict food safety and sanitation standards, including adherence to GMP, HACCP, and OSHA requirements. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and must be worn as directed. The work area includes warehouse aisles, loading docks, storage locations, and production support areas, all of which must be kept clean, organized, and free from hazards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elk Grove, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
