Community Planner

Community Planner (San Antonio, Austin, Fort Worth, Richardson) Halff is seeking to hire a Community Planner to join our Texas Planning Team with the option of several of our office locations. The ideal person for this position can thrive in a collaborative work environment with an interdisciplinary team of planners, landscape architects, and engineers. Our planners lead a wide variety of unique and traditional planning projects throughout Texas and several neighboring states. Projects typically range from comprehensive planning to parks, recreation, and trails planning; downtown, special area planning; transportation planning; urban design and development codes; and more. Responsibilities Support dynamic project teams. Conduct public engagement activities. Create GIS maps and graphics. Prepare plan documents. Research and analysis, writing, and communicate through visuals. Communicate with clients and the public, building consensus. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in community/urban planning or a closely related field from an accredited university. 1‑4 years of experience in a planning capacity. Strong knowledge of computer programs (GIS, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office programs, InDesign) and ability to produce attractive maps, graphics, written documents. Great attitude toward teamwork, curiosity, initiative, and taking on new challenges. Preferred Qualifications Experience in the public or private sector. Master's degree in community/urban planning, landscape architecture, architecture, or a closely related field. AICP certification.
